Can you give me advice and steps on how to start and get every aspect of running a successful company please?

-David T.

I will tell you that there is not just one correct way to build a successful company but here is a list of some of the things I've learned along the way.

1. Learn from your mistakes - It's ok to make mistakes in business but it is not ok when you don't learn anything from it. I nearly went bankrupt at 20 but learned a lot from nearly failing.

2. Put your ego aside - In business when trying to be successful there is no room for your ego or pride. It's ok to ask someone for help or to acknowledge when you don't know exactly what to do.

3. Network - You never know who or how someone you meet will be able to help you. Don't burn any bridges and try to keep up with others as often as you can. I guarantee there will be times when who you know, instead of what you know will determine the success of a project or your business.

4. Simply Ask - I can't tell you how much you can accomplish by simply asking someone if they are interested in doing something. There have been plenty of times when I thought, "there is no way they'll say yes," and to my surprise they actually did and have became my mentors in the process.

5. Be the weakest link - If you are able to build a team that makes you the weakest link then you are greatly improving your chances for success. You can always hone your skills.

6. Put others first - Customers, Business Partners, anyone. In my experience putting others first has helped my businesses succeed. The best way to be successful is by letting others know that you are trying to help them get where you are.

7. Happy Employees are better employees - Simply put communicate with your staff and develop some type of incentive program that lets them know you appreciate what they are doing. An incentive program also helps keep employees motivated to accomplish company goals. Stay cool, calm and collected, I've never had an employee do what I wanted them to because I yelled at them. You must first give respect to receive it.

I could easily continue the list because there are so many other factor that can contribute to success. Honestly exposing as many of them as possible was the intent of developing our Business Solutions Service. Even if you don't subscribe to it read books, work hard and ask others who have already experienced the highs and lows of entrepreneurship. Most importantly, you must believe in yourself! "Success is a process, everyday you must aim to make progress."
